Truancy Law

A truancy ordinance is now in effect in the the City of Portland requiring children between 7 and 18 years of age to be in school or show ID during school hours.

There are some exceptions including if you are:

Exempt from going to school under Oregon Law. You would be in this category if you are being home schooled, attend private school or have obtained a GED.

The Multnomah Education Service District can provide your student with an ID card at your request for the current school year. There is no charge for this service.
