THE MESD HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM
Special Needs Students
If a child is on an individualized educational program (IEP) at their public school, the child is still eligible for special education services even if the child is home schooled. The parent will have to bring the child to the school for any of those services. In order to fulfill the testing requirements, MESD will need a statement from the student’s multidisciplinary team stating that …
“is making satisfactory educational progress per their IEP”.
A parent may also choose a privately developed plan (PDP). A PDP is an individual plan developed by a team including the parent and one or more private service providers to address the educational needs of a child with a disability. A PDP shall include individual educational goals for the student and a statement indicating how satisfactory educational progress will be determined for the student.
