Established in 1924 as a summer camp, the Namanu Outdoor School site is located 25 miles from the MESD. It takes approximately 45 minutes to reach Namanu from the MESD office. The closest community is the city of Sandy. The Namanu site I located along the Sandy River at the confluence of the Bull Run River. The dining hall is centrally located. The site has a variety of terrains and some field study areas are located on steep hillsides. Trails access all field study areas.

There are 12-14 cabins in two distinct cabin areas. Some cabins are equipped with toilets, sinks and showers. Additional bathrooms and showers are located in each cabin area. Cabins are not wheelchair accessible. Many of the buildings were designed by a noted Portland architect in the 1930’s and contain folk art and other beautiful touches.

There are 6 spaces in 3 rooms available for teacher use. Bathrooms and a kitchen are located in the same building and are not shared with students or staff. Four classrooms are available for evening class meetings. All areas have tables and chairs.

Directions: Follow signs for Hwy 26 to Sandy Oregon. As you go through town, the highway will divide.
When the highway joins once again (by the Arco), go left at the light onto Ten Eyck Rd. From Sandy,
follow Ten Eyck 3.4 miles (Roslyn Lake will be on your left). Turn right onto Bull Run Road.
Just past Water Works Road, take the first driveway on the left onto a dirt road which is Camp Namanu Rd.
(This road is the first left after the bridge.) Continue down Camp Namanu Rd for 1.3 miles.
The road is narrow, so drive cautiously. Please park in the parking lot and walk down the hill to the office.
