Sandy River32149 S.E. Stevens Road Jeff "Snake" Dallas, Site Supervisor The Sandy River Outdoor School site is about 15 miles from the MESD office. It takes approximately 25 minutes to reach the Sandy River site from the MESD office. The closest community is Springdale, with Troutdale a few minutes away. The Sandy River site is located on the Sandy River, west of Mount Hood. The dining hall is centrally located. The cabin areas are close to the dining hall. Most of the site is flat, and the soil is sandy. Trails and unpaved roads access most field study areas. There are more paved roads and trails between the dining hall, cabin areas, and campfire that make this site the most accessible site for students with wheelchairs or with physical disabilities. There are 12 cabins (6 boys and 6 girls) available for student use. Bathrooms and showers are in the cabin area. Some cabins are wheelchair accessible. There are up to 8 spaces in 2 rooms, located in the dining hall, available for teacher use. Bathrooms are located in same building and are not shared with students. Three classrooms and the dining hall are available for evening class meetings. All areas have tables and chairs.
Directions: For East County Schools: Proceed east on Stark street. Stark street ends when you cross the bridge over the Sandy River. For West County Schools: Take Interstate #84 to the Lewis and Clark State Park exit (just beyond Troutdale). Adams-Milk Creek | Arrah Wanna | Howard | Namanu | Sandy River |
